Boadilla to Carrion de Los Condes to Martinos

Noisy night in Boadilla, supper was served in a big noisy dining room, today it was great chickpea soup, salad with your choice of beef or fish, of course there was vino tinto (red wine), water and you guessed it bread, and creme caramel for dessert, most people crashed, Sharon tried to publish the last blog to no avail, wifi too weak. Big room with at least 20 beds but quieter than expected in the long run, up and out in the dark again, but as we progressed many people said they will not start in the dark anymore. We like to go just before the light so we can watch the sunrise.

Beautiful morning leaving Boadilla said to the tune of hey Bo Diddley :)

Sunday was a day of walking along a canal, many beautiful churches and getting a Hostal (28 euros),every few days we need some privacy. Have sore spots so we rested up as well.

Crossing the canal into Fromista
One view of the church at Fromista
Sharon in front of the church at Fromista, on our way out of town.
Monastery on the way in to Villacazar de Sirga, saw a beautiful church in Villacazar but unfortunately mass started before Blair could get in with camera:(
Nice tile work on the first church on the way into Carrion de Los Condes

Carrion De Los Condes was pretty quiet as it was Sunday but it did come alive in the late afternoon, the bar across from our Hostal luckily was a family bar so closed down by nine. We were too tired to go to the pilgrims mass where we could have received a blessing and listened to the singing nuns, those of you that know Blair know how sorry he was to miss that :)

So we got up a little later and left at 7, to walk the 17.8 km to the next town. This had most peregrinos psyched out but it wasn't hot and with a snack and cool winds it was fine.

So we left Carrion with the hoards for the 18 km trek
We met up with Michaela from Adelaide (who is 20) and we talked and walked.
And talked and walked...
And walked and talked.

We ended up at the alburgue in Martinos, we planned to be here as we heard about the Italian food. We were the first ones in so got the pick of the beds, close to the door, close to the washroom :).

Home sweet home Martinos, Sharon always gets the bottom.

It was like old home week as the alburgue filled as we know or had met nearly everyone that came in.

The first place we went, can't see the beer and chips!
Blair with peregrinos, Lisa beside him is a medical Dr in Germany Blair thought she was 16, LOL!
Patio at alburgue San Bruno
Our boots were the first ones there, most often boots are kept outside for obvious reasons.

Started out bright and sunny then the rain came, we have been very lucky so far only a few showers so far.

Looking out from the patio, our clothes are under the overhang, debatable if they will dry in time now.

TOMORROW we have about 11 km until halfway!!! Although, that is debatable as distances vary between signs, routes, literature, and pilgrim offices. Some people say we are already halfway :)
